Classmates Remember

Bill Warren called a few minutes ago.  He said that Robert was gone, passed away today.  We talked for a minute or two, then Bill said, "You know, I can walk out on my front porch and almost see Robert's house."  I've been thinking about what Bill said as I put this page together and I realized that I can close my eyes and  see Robert just the way I saw him forty something years ago.  I can see his smile and feel the quiet confidence he exuded.  Robert will always be there in my memories and I'm a better person for it.

I am so very sad that Robert is gone.  He was always a gentleman and a gentle person.  He was always so very kind to me in High School.  At the 1990 reunion he welcomed us so warmly and we had dinner with him that night at the Holiday Inn. God Bless him and his family.  He will be sorely missed and my prayers to him and his family.

Robert was a very warm and caring person.  You could talk to him and he would listen.  I was not a close friend in high school but when I wanted to start up the reunions again he talked with me over the phone and gave me helpful information I could use such as names of those who still wanted to do the reunions.  I guess with all the work he and the committee had done on the earlier reunions left them a little burned out but he still loved the class and it showed when we were talking.   The class will  miss him.  It was a blessing to have had the opportunity to see him one more time.  Those who attended will always remember his smile and class spirit.  He was a very special member of our Palatka Senior High School Class of 1960.
